Orthography

The practical orthography used by the project was first developed in 2004 and is based on the orthographies being promoted by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and the National Indigenous Institute (INI), with some modifications to accommodate Upper Necaxa phonology.

In the practical orthography, long vowels are represented with a colon and laryngealization with a straight apostrophe. Ejectivized consonants use a curly apostrophe.
