Canadisches Volksblatt was a German language newspaper that began its existence in 1859 under the direction of George Reynolds, the editor and publisher. The newspaper was printed in fine type and carried more material in the content in comparison with most of the German weeklies in Ontario at that time. Canadisches Volksblatt was printed in a page size of 22 inches high and 18 inches wide with seven columns of print per page. This newspaper was characterized by frequent changes in ownership before it ceased its publication in 1908. Canadisches Volksblatt covered prose fiction, local and European news, and advertisements on useful items for the farmer and town dwellers. There were also advertisements of subjects of all varieties including books, stores, hotels, ship companies, doctors etc.
