Description
Canada Svensken, with its parallel title The Swedish Canadian, was a Swedish language newspaper published in Toronto since 1961. The newspaper was launched by Thorwald Wiik, a Finland Swede. Canada Svensken claimed to be the leading Swedish newspaper in Canada. It started as a semi-monthly and later monthly that covered Swedish, Finland-Swedish, and Canadian news. In 1970, Canada Svenska issued a test version in English, which was entitled Swedish Canadian, with the aim to become the voice shared by all Swedes living in Canada. The newspaper ceased publication in 1978.
