Dawa Business Press (DBP) was established in 2001, in Vancouver. ‘Da’ implies Canada, because it is taken from the last letter of the Chinese translation of ‘Canada’. ‘Wa’ means China. The newspaper dedicates itself to the promotion of friendship and trade between China and Canada. Since its inauguration in 2001, the newspaper has grown from a 16 page weekly publication, to a newspaper that comes out three times a week featuring news, info, and advertisement. It is distributed across Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and Edmonton. DBP caters specifically to Mainland Chinese in Canada and aims to brigde between old and new, Chinese and Canada.
