Zainalbi Davlatova Falaki dashti

Popular quatrains

Faryod ki umri man mukammal meshud

Charkhi falakam ba dasti modar meshud

Modar merisht tanobi umra medod

Davroni guzashta boz az sar meshud

Help, my life has come to an end

If the wheel of fortune were in mother's hands

My mother would weave my life together again

And the times gone past would start again.

Faryod ki kori nosazo kard falak

Farzand az modari u judo kard

Guftam biravam peshi falak girya kunam

Az giryai man du gusha kard dogh falak

Help, the destiny has been merciless

It has taken the mother away from her child

I said: I will cry to the sky (the destiny)

But the sky (the destiny) did not hear me.

Avval ki navishtani qalamro guyam

In bakhti siyohi puralamro guyam

In bakhti siyohi puralam guftan nashud

Hayron monam kadom alamro guyam

Before I die and know my destiny

I shall tell this painful bad fortune

But this painful bad fortune is too hard to tell

I remain speechless, which pain shall I tell?

Odina Hoshimov Falaki zina ba zina

Popular quatrains

Bin to ba dilam z-on buti mahru chi guzasht

U kay donad ki dar dilam zi u chi guzasht

Tirafkanro zi dardi ohu chi khabar

Ohu donad ki dar dili u chi guzasht

Look at what happened to my heart because of that beauty

Will she ever know what happened to my heart because of her?

What does the hunter know about the pain of the gazelle?

Only the gazelle knows what happened to her heart.

Dar olami be vafo kase khurram nest

shodiu nishot dar bani odam nest

On kas ki dar in zamona uro gham nest

Yo odam nest yo ki az in olam nest

In this deceiving world, no one is joyful

In mankind, there is no happiness or delight

Those who do not suffer in this time of ours

either they are not human or they do not belong to this world.

Az subh hamesha jonibi shom ravem

Zi oghoz hamesha suy anjom ravem

Bo nom ravem agar hej az ajali

Tarsem az on ajal ki be nom ravem

We always go all the way from the morn to the evening

We always go all the way from the beginning to the end

If we were to pass away without a name

We shall be afraid of that death without a name

Dunyo chu nigori dil pisand ast mudom

Bar oshiqi khud jafo pisand ast mudom

Shamsher tasodufan rasad bar sari past

On ba sari mardi sarbaland ast mudom

The world, like a beauty, is always dear to the heart

Torment is always dear to the ones in love

Only by chance does the sword fall on a miserable man's head

The sword always falls on the proud man's head

Madvali Hasanov Dasti du'o

Ghazal by Saydo Nasafi (d. 1710 ca.)

Dil chu az poy fitad dasti du'o megardad

Rohrav pir shavad rohnamo megardad

Rostiro nabuvad hej zavole ba jahon

Sarv agar khushk shavad boz aso megardad

Oshnoi ba javonon notavon kard ba zur

Tir zi oghushi kamon zud judo megardad

Saydo ka'bai dil khonai mayusi nest

Hojjati khalq zi in khona ravo megardad

When the heart falls, it turns into a prayer

The one who grows old and tired of walking begins to show the way.

Nothing in the world is ever truly destroyed

If the cypress dries up, as a stick it comes to life again.

One cannot rejuvenate by force

The arrow soon departs from the bow.

Saydo (says that) the heart is not the house of distress

It is the house of rescue for the people.

Davlatkhon Chorshanbe Ghazali Emom-shenosi [Maddoh]

'Alo ye tolibi vahdat hama lofi ki juyoy(am)

kalom az man shunav zero kalomu'lloh guyoyam.

Ba maktabkhonai talim tu shogirdi dili man shav

agar khohi ba ruyat dari asror bikshoyam.

Agar farmonbari khohi dar in ofoqi lohuti

mubaddal meshavam gahe ba har shakle burun oyam...'

Oh you searcher of Unity, you are all the praise I am looking for

Listen to my words because I am speaking the words of God.

Be the pupil of my heart in the school of learning

If you want me to open the door of secrets for you.

If you want to serve in this divine horizon

Be ready for my command and listen to everything I say.

Where do you see me in the earthly world with your eyes?

Since I have no place there, and beyond it I stand.

In this treasury, there are nine roofs, four porches and six windows

Know the meaning of the talisman of the treasure: the world is my ornament.

If you want to know me, then know yourself first

I know every one, I bring knowing and I am knowing

If you see many like me, then do not believe your eyes

If you see the truth, you will know that no one is like me.

If you want to see my soul / face, then open the eye of secrets (secret knowledge)

Because the worldly eye does not see a thing except my many illusions.

There are no changes in the meaning I bestow, changes are only in appearance

I change sometimes and I appear in every form.
