Panel 1: Music and Islam

I'm interested in creating a panel for SEM '06 on the CONFERENCE THEME: Music and Islam. My paper would be on the "music" (contested term) I heard at the weekly women's gatherings I attended at my neighborhood mosque in Damascus.

PLEASE consider joining me. Panels have a significantly higher acceptance rate than individual paper submissions.

Panel 2

I would also love to form a panel. I am not sure if my paper will work perfectly with Nancy's great topic, so I thought I might propose a more general Middle East panel. My paper is on a modern opera in Qatar based on traditional music. If Nancy does not get enough interest perhaps we can merge the two, but it would be great to have 2 SAMR panels.
