conference: Shifting the energy debate forward: innovations in the Social Sciences and Humanities for Green Deal delivery [January 19]

We are delighted to invite you to the H2020 Energy-SHIFTS final conference, Shifting the energy debate forward: Innovations in the Social Sciences and Humanities for Green Deal delivery on Tuesday 19 January 2021, 10.00 – 13.00 CET on Zoom. You can register for the event here. The conference will underline how crucial social knowledge is to delivering the transition to climate-neutrality. It will bring together high-level policymakers and senior stakeholders and researchers linked to H2020 projects from across Europe to debate the key issues, identify challenges and think through the changes needed to further integrate social sciences in the future of European energy policymaking. Amongst other issues, we will discuss:

  • Why does Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) evidence matter for energy policymaking? What are the consequences when social insights are not adequately considered?
  • How do the latest SSH understandings align (or not) with policy priorities of the European Green Deal? What will EU Horizon Europe do to ensure SSH innovations are fully utilised?
  • What energy-SSH themes need to be urgently funded, and why? How should transdisciplinary uptake of SSH be pursued in the 2020s?
