Funding: awards, scholarships, assistantships, grants for research, travel, and creative arts
- Preparing a Research Proposal
- Conventional academic research: answering questions about the world by doing things (thinking, experiencing, experimentation, fieldwork, archival work...)
- Research Creation: Add "creating" to that list. Research Creation combines conventional research with creative activities. Read the SSHRC definition, and browse University of Alberta Research Creation resources. Note that Research Creation is still research and must

- Federal Tri-Council funding: General information. Tri-council comprises SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR. For the most part, Music students are eligible only for SSHRC.
- Tri-council funding for master's and doctoral students, including SSHRC.
- Eligibility: must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and for the most part Music students will only be eligible for SSHRC awards.
