There are two sources (actually one):

  • President's Fund is available for students but only via Area Coordinators/Convenors (Academic/composition is one area; performance is another area), and only for conference presentations; from the terms of reference:

"Area Coordinators may apply on behalf of up to 4 graduate students: a maximum of 2 from each of the Academic and Performance areas (see below, under “grants to present...”)"....and "Area Coordinators may apply on behalf of graduate students who have had abstracts accepted and wish to attend: up to $500/student to a maximum of 4 graduate students per year, with a maximum of 2 from each of the Academic and Performance areas (Area Coordinators must rank submissions). Funding is to assist with direct projects involving an enhancement of essential educational upgrades. Project must be associated with specific research goals." See President's Fund guidelines for more information including deadlines.

  • The following is longer available (maybe it will be reinstated one day, so I'm leaving the description). Faculty of Arts provides $1000 per fiscal year to the Dept of Music, which distributes the awards. Procedures for distribution may vary year to year, but travel must be completed to be reimbursed. Apply by end of February. (Application site out of date; to be revised in 2022)
