La historia Aktzini es un mito pan-totonaco culturalmente importante. En la región alrededor del valle Necaxa, el relato corresponde a la historia del monte Colinque (mu:chu’kúku’), el pico más alto en la zona. Es un centro ceremonial importante para el chamán se creía era el acceso a la tierra de los malos espíritus (“aquellos que comen gente”) que descendieron de los cielos. Aunque la historia ha sido olvidada por la mayoría de los hablantes en las comunidades del alto Necaxa, esta versión fue contada por Marcelino Ortega, un hablante del dialecto Patla, en Patla el 30 de enero de 2003. El relato fue grabado por David Beck en una grabadora de mano Sony DAT, con la ayuda de Porfirio Sampayo Macín, quien tuvo el rol de interlocutor, y fue inicialmente transcrita por Joshua Holden y Noemi Sampayo Mendoza. Posteriormente, un trabajo de análisis de texto mediante un segmentador computacional asistido por el usuario fue llevado a cabo por Kevin Penner. La redacción final y el formato fueron completados por David Beck, y el HTML generado por CuPED.
