  • Psychic system (consciousness, perception, experience - bound by neural communications)
  • Social system (social structure and practice - bound by linguistic communications)
  • Cosmic (metasocial) system (extension of social system into metaphysical domain)

Note that the non-believer (etic perspective) may attribute reality only to the psychic and social systems, regarding the "cosmic" system as an individual or collective representation of the metaphysical. However it is also possible to adopt, even provisionally, an emic perspective as a means of explicating what language performance means for those who use it.
