Once you have imported video using Final Cut Pro and saved your project, you are ready to export it and save it to the server.

Instructions:

1. Make sure the video you imported is in the sequence. Click on the sequence tab.

2. Click File>Export>Quicktime Movie. A window will open. Enter the filename (same as project name) and select the folder on the desktop "Exported DV". At the bottom of the window, the settings should be as follows:

  • Setting: DV NTSC 48 kHz
  • Include: Audio & Video
  • Markers: None

Make sure there is a check next to the box "Make Movie Self-Contained", but NO CHECK next to "Recompress All Frames".

3. Click Save. A Progress Bar will appear on your screen.

4. Once Final Cut has finished exporting, open the file with Quicktime and check the beginning, middle and end to ensure the quality of the video has remained the same and no errors occurred during export.

5. If the video is fine, close the file and delete the Final Cut Project file & scratch files from the Final Cut Scratch folder on the desktop. NOTE: Do not delete the exported file (now saved in the folder: Exported DV), just the project file, which should be found in one of the VMC folders (Northern Alberta Fiddle Collection, VMC-South Asia, etc.).

6. The video is ready to be exported. When the G5's hard drive is close to full, notify David, who will move the video to the server.
