Evolution of LP

Another way of studying LP is to examine how the LP system evolves over time. Here the following questions become relevant: what are the sources of LP? Where does it come from? What is the extent of its various aspects (for instance, the sonic aspect is often drawn from the local sonic ecology, while the syntactic may be more global)?
