(Steven introduces masmudi)
Repeat the following three times, first very soft, then medium, then very loud.
- chord progression (four times as fast as before) repeated 4 times (8x masmudi), accompanying vocal melody (verse 3=Aramaic) in four phrases (each phrase is two bars of masmudi; please listen to get these melodies and their harmonies). Also please remember which upper harmony part you have decided to take!
- final bar of masmudi: instrumental only (instruments have a standard melody to play here).
notes:
- initial section should not be too long; keep the pacing lively (otherwise the song can easily run 7-8 minutes)
- keep wahda very even; not too slow
- be careful to follow wahda carefully when singing and for chord changes (2 cycles of wahda per chord)
- in the Aramaic section, please listen carefully and imitate the melodies, especially the second one of the four
- instruments fill in during vocal sections (lawazim), improvise freely during other sections
