Nathan Kowalsky

Nathan Kowalsky is assistant professor of philosophy at St. Joseph’s College, University of Alberta, and both assistant professor of science, technology and society and adjunct professor of religious studies in the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Alberta.  He holds a PhD in philosophy from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, and his research interests are in the fields of environmental ethics, philosophy of religion, philosophy of culture and philosophy of technology.  He is the editor of the book Hunting – Philosophy for Everyone, managing editor of the deep ecology journal The Trumpeter, and author of a number of peer reviewed journal articles in the environmental humanities.  His current research projects include the Alberta oil sands and Jacques Ellul’s critique of the technological society, hunting and religion, the moral relevance of species difference, and traditional ecological knowledge as social critique.
