This seminar course centers on understanding music and other performance arts in Africa as a sustainable, scaleable, highly effective technology for maintaining vibrant, healthy societies, ensuring social cohesion, civil society, social justice, equality, multicultural and multigenerational connectivity,gender justice, ecological balance, community health, cultural continuity, and basic education. Each student has designed a human development project involving Africa and African music, resulting in a descriptive poster presentation and presentations. These will be presented at two research dissemination events:
This seminar course centers on understanding music and other performance arts in Africa as constituting a sustainable, scaleable, highly effective social technology for maintaining vibrant, healthy, humanized societies: supporting cultural continuity, fostering social cohesion and civil society, multicultural and multigenerational connectivity, promoting social and economic justice, equality, gender equity, ecological balance, community health, education, and general wellbeing, and combating dehumanization, racism, and cultural miscommunication.  
 
Each student has designed a human development project involving Africa and African music, resulting in a poster and talk. These will be presented at two events:


1) A ''concert'' on March 30, 8pm, in Convocation Hall.
