The following chart indicates how some of the optional readings link to ESNAP. While it's not possible to define a tight correspondence between books, and I haven't tried to link up all the chapters of each, I hope this map will help you navigate a bit. Feel free to browse these optional texts for what's most interesting -- or most enjoyable.

In addition, refer to Wasserman and Faust for more rigorous explanations, and browse Hanneman and Riddle's Introduction to social network methods, for introductory-level explanations of ESNAP material.
