Ukrainian Traditional Folklore

Here are some videos that were made in Central Ukraine in 2001. It is difficult to "stream" these over the Web so I would VERY MUCH APPRECIATE FEEDBACK on the usefulness of this. There are two versions of each one. On this page are the Low Resolution videos (which are quite poor) for dial-up modems, the High Resolution, for those with faster connections, are on the next page. This shows the home of Baba San'ka in Velykii Khutir. She is a wonderful source of village lore and sings beautifully. Here she is describing her house and how it was built and rebuilt. This video shows two Ivan Kupalo celebrations. The first in the village of Berlozy, Kozelets'kyi raion, Chernihivs'ka oblast', and the second in the village of Lyshnia, Makarivs'kyi raion, Kyivs'ka oblast'.
The Latysh Farm was the one used for the 3-D model. It is the home of Polina Iakivna (Baba Polia) and Vasyl' Ivanovych Latysh (Did Vasid) and is located in Iavorivka, Drabivs'kyi
raion, Cherkas'ka oblast.
This is a short tour of the village of Iavorivka. From the house, through the village, to the cemetery.
