| The funeral of Hanna Petrivna Mateiko. The same eight women who carried the coffin into church carry it around the church three times. Women will carry only the coffin of a woman. If the deceased is a man, men will carry the coffin. If the deceased is a woman, the coffin bearers can be either male or female. One woman (Perepechai) said specifically that she wanted men to carry her coffin for fear that women might drop it.
