| The funeral of Hanna Petrivna Mateiko. A picture of the priest. Most village clergy are quite young, as is the man here. This one was a very pleasant and dedicated person, quite liberal and accepting of folkways and willing to incorporate these into his services. Other clergy, though also young, were different in personality and quite dictatorial, as well as anxious to eradicate folk beliefs and practices.
