The church is a converted village house. Here the couple stands before the altar and holds candles. The priest begins the service. Note also the priest's robes and the decoration of the church. Here it is clearer that the couple holds candles wrapped in kerchiefs. Nothing, these candles included, can be held with a bare hand.
