| The 70th anniversary of the Soviet Socialist Revolution. The main post office in Kyiv, on the corner of Khreshchatyk and what was then October Square (Zhovtneva Ploshcha) and later became Independence Square (Ploshcha Nezalezhnosti). On the post office itself is a banner reading "Lenin and October." A smaller banner reads "perebudova - pryskorennia," meaning "Let's speed up Perestroika."
