| Pavlo Stepanovych Suprun, performer, artist, bandura player, composer, playing outside the Lavra in Kyiv. His performance venue is becoming more and more restricted. At the time of this photo, he was allowed to sing only in an area outside the main grounds of the Lavra. He claims this is because the Lavra has been turned over to the Russian Orthodox Church which is not favorably disposed to Ukrainian performers. Another problem is that minstrels are again seen as beggars of sorts. In this picture, next to Suprun stands a gypsy girl who is, in fact, a beggar.
