One of the old cathedrals, about to be restored. Many churches were used for other than religious purposes during the Soviet era. Some were turned into war museums. Others were used for intentionally disrespectful purposes, such as to store animal feed. Almost all have now been turned over to churches of various affiliations (almost all are Orthodox, but some are affiliated with the Moscow Patriarchate and some are Ukrainian) and are now being restored.
