| The home of Polina Iakivna Latysh and Vasyl' Ivanovych Latysh. The yard by the house. As with all homesteads, you enter the farmyard through a gate in the fence. The entrance to the house never faces the street. It is usually from the side. This being a particularly nice house, concrete sidewalks lead up to the house entrance. On the right is the summer kitchen. This is a separate building used, as its name implies, in the summer so as not to heat up the house. Cooking is done on a gas stove; gas comes from a bought canister. The table outside the summer kitchen was used for food preparation. Now it is piled high will all sorts of clothes and has become essentially a storage area. The table in the back left is used for food preparation and even more for dishwashing. There is another table inside the summer kitchen. Animals are fed outside the kitchen. Here Polina Iakivna and Nadiia Vasylivna look at one of the family cats.
