| In the home of Odarka Iakivna Panchenko, DOB 1905; usually called Baba Odarka. This same informant had been recorded two years ago, but this time was not very successful because she has deteriorated physically to a great degree. Her clothing and home are good examples of material culture. The painting above the glass cabinet is of her when she was a young woman. The bouquet nearby is what is carried by a svitylka (a female relative of the groom and one of the attendants usually present in the wedding train that goes from the groom's house to pick up the bride) during a wedding. The bouquet is sometimes called a shablia or sword. Baba Odarka used to make and sell these, but she is no longer able to.
