| Baptism -- during the baptismal ceremony; the priest takes the child from the godparents to dip her feet in holy water. The pink cloth in the hands of one of the godmothers is the kryzhma. It is a ritual gift which the godmother presents to the child at baptism. The kryzhma should never be used for anything except items for the child, be they clothing or diapers.
