Many people shared with me their enthusiasm for Ukrainian song and other folk arts and told me how it had helped them in times of trouble.There was a man who had become an alcoholic and whose wife and children left him. He had recovered with the help of his mother and music and now kept his mother’s house, which was immaculate and played the accordion while his mother played guitar.
