Athiann Deng Garang adapted the story Wät këëthiɛ̈ɛ̈r ku Wuɔ̈nden in Lieec (1997) in order to make the story more representative of the Rek dialect. He rewrote and recorded the story in 2006

A summer research award, Roger S. Smith Undergraduate Research Award, was awarded in 2006 to Kristina Geeraert to continue with the development of the Dinka Narrative Website. This story was the first story contributed to the website during the summer. Rin kie ɣɛn ye cɔɔl Doruka (Duruka, Dorcas, kuɔ Tabitha) Nyandeng Nicodemus Machot Deng Yak Akei. Ɣɛn ye nyan de jiɛ̈ɛ̈ŋ boor de south Sudan. Ku ya tiŋ de south Sudan, në jiɛ̈ɛ̈ŋ booric. Wunda aye cɔɔl nyarueng në jiɛ̈ɛ̈ŋ booric, paanda aye cɔɔl Dukpayuɛ̈ɛ̈l ku Duŋë Deng ë Malual, në jiɛ̈ɛ̈ŋ booric.

I am called Doruka (Duruka, Dorcas, Tabitha) Nyandeng Nicodemus Machot Deng Yak Akei. I am a girl from Bor Dinka of the Southern Sudan. And also a lady of the Southern Sudan in Bor Dinka. Our community is called Nyarueng in Dinka Bor and our village is called Dukpayuɛɛl or Duŋ Deng Malual.
