Der Morgenstern was a German language newspaper published since June 1839 in Waterloo Village. This was a weekly newspaper of four pages owned by Banjamin Burkholder. The contents of the newspaper included columns such as: poetry, prose, news (including local, Canadian and foreign), arts, scientific articles, and advertisements. In terms of news, Der Morgenstern put more emphasis on European news, especially on Germany. In the meantime, the newspaper laid little emphasis on local news. Overall, the contents of Der Morgenstern was a mix of exchanges with a variety of other German newspapers in North America at that time. Der Morgenstern ceased publication with its last issue on September 16, 1841.
