Der Wächter am Saugeen was a German language weekly newspaper that was published in Grey County on Georgian Bay since 1868. The newspaper was published by the partnership of Victor Lang and Christian Heise. In 1879 its name was changed to Canada National-Zeitung. The newspaper ceased publication after its printing office was destroyed by a fire in 1882. Der Wächter am Saugeen had four pages which were 20 inches high and 13 inches wide. The content of the newspaper was devoted to advocacy of the interests and views of Canadian Germans. It was circulated through the German counties of Grey, Bruce, Wellington, Waterloo, Huron, and Welland.
