Der Canadische Beobachter was a German language newspaper which began publication in Preston in 1848. It was a four-page weekly with 24 inches high, 21 inches wide pages, and six columns per page. The content covered prose, poetry, and foreign, Canadian, and local news. It also had separate columns for advertisements. Der Canadische Beobachter was edited and published by Martin Rudolph. In 1850, after two years of unsuccessful and tenuous existence, the newspaper ceased publication.
